This unit describes the performance outcomes required to measure, mark out and cut, fabricate and install automotive and marine frames, canopies and side curtains to manufacturer specifications and customer instructions. It involves preparing for the task, selecting and using specialist tools and equipment, selecting materials and checking their quality, and completing workplace processes and documentation.

1. Prepare for fabrication

2.2 Specialist tools and equipment are used according to safety and environmental requirements
2.3 Frame, canopies and side curtains are fabricated and assembled according to job requirements, workplace procedures, and safety and environmental requirements
2.4 Frame, canopies and side curtains are installed and fastened according to workplace procedures and without causing damage to vehicle, vessel or components
2.5 Installation and fastening are checked for correct operational requirements
3. Complete work processes
3.1 Final inspection is made to ensure work meets workplace expectations and vehicle or vessel is presented ready for use
