To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:
explain own or local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander culture
describe cultural protocols in relation to the production, presentation and distribution of works that express Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity
list protocols for the sharing of information and the expression of information pertaining to cultural works
identify intellectual property requirements for specific types of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artwork.
Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage environments. The assessment environment must include:
involvement by persons approved by Elders of the relevant community
access to information sources on protocols for the production of work and other cultural information as agreed by local communities.
Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational education and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.
