Performance Evidence
The candidate must provide evidence that they can:identify hazards and follow safe work procedureserect simple temporary bulk material storagescheck equipment and storage facilities, and identify current or impending faultsperform pre-operational checks and routine safety, service and maintenance procedures on tools, equipment and machineryoperate hand and independently powered tools and cleaning equipment to industry standardsclean, secure and store machinery and equipmenthandle hazardous substances (fuels) safelyread and interpret manufacturer's specifications, work and maintenance programs, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)prepare the storage area for access by grain carriersprepare grain storages by removing all residues and checking structurework in confined spaces in accordance with State/Territory legislation, where requiredprepare and test grain handling machinerycommunicate with supervisor follow enterprise work health and safety policies in the context of own workfollow enterprise biosecurity policies the context of own work.
Knowledge Evidence
The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of:
range of construction methods, potential hazards, safety and structural requirements for storageerection and dismantling for types of temporary storage used by organisationorganisation and commodity quality requirements for grain storagegrain storage hygiene requirementstypical signs of structural damage to be documented and reportedpre-operational and safety checks, servicing and maintenance procedures for tools and equipmentmachinery maintenance procedures and operating principlesmachinery and equipment cleaning, storage and protection methodsappropriate action in contingency situationsorganisation requirements for protective equipment and safe practices in relation to work health and safety State/Territory legislation in respect to working in confined spacespotential hazards associated with the operation of basic tools and equipmentregulations and codes of practice with regard to work health and safety, environment and the use and control of machinery and equipmentpersonal protective clothing and equipment and when and how it should be usedorganisational recording and reporting procedures.
