Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to work with livestock feed
- Interpret work to be undertaken from the work program, where necessary, and confirm with supervisor
- Identify work health and safety hazards, assess risks and implement suitable controls
- Select, use and maintain suitable personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Select, check and maintain tools and equipment suitable for the work to be undertaken
- Identify environmental impacts of undertaking work, assess likely outcomes and, if necessary, take responsive action
- Order and store feed and ingredients
- Order previously selected ingredients from the supplier
- Store ingredients and feed safely in the location and manner determined by the supervisor
- Rotate stock and order replacements to arrive at the appropriate time to ensure optimum freshness
- Calibrate scales and containers to be used for measurements according to manufacturer instructions
- Identify feed ingredients and obtain from storage locations
- Measure ingredients in the specified ratios and quantities
- Blend ingredients adequately and hygienically in the manner specified and using the appropriate equipment
- Perform milling in the manner specified and using the appropriate equipment, if required
- Conduct post-procedural hygiene and administration activities
