Elements and Performance Criteria
- Follow workplace procedures for hazard identification and risk control
- Recognise hazards in the workplace and report them to designated personnel
- Assess risks associated with identified hazards
- Follow workplace procedures and work instructions to control risks
- Follow workplace procedures for dealing with accidents, fire and emergencies within the scope of responsibilities and competencies
- Recognise risks to fellow workers, other people and animals and take action to eliminate or reduce them
- Recognise and carry out employee responsibilities prescribed in work health and safety legislation
- Undertake safety training as directed
- Observe safe practices during work operations
- Identify, use, maintain and store personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Undertake safety checks on all machinery and equipment before operation
- Identify and report hazards associated with handling hazardous substances and assess risk
- Identify noise hazards, notify relevant personnel and assess associated risks
- Assess risks associated with manual handling jobs prior to commencing activity or carrying out work
- Access information on work health and safety as required
- Participate in arrangements for maintaining the health and safety of all people in the workplace
