Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to undertake servicing operations
- Work requirements, including the nature and scope of servicing, are identified and confirmed
- OH&S requirements, including individual State/Territory regulatory requirements and personal protection needs are observed throughout the work
- Procedures and information such as workshop manuals and specifications, and tooling required, are sourced
- Method options are analysed and those most appropriate to the circumstances are selected and prepared
- Technical requirements are sourced and support equipment is identified and prepared
- Warnings in relation to working with vehicles and equipment are observed
- Apply correct lubricants and/or fluids handling techniques
- Correct lubricants/fluids are identified for components as per manufacturer/component supplier specifications
- Fluid leaks are inspected in accordance with manufacturer/component supplier procedures
- Used lubricants/fluids are disposed of in accordance with statutory requirements
- Handling of lubricants/fluids is carried out according to industry regulations/guidelines, OH&S legislation and legislation
- Carry out servicing operations
- Prepare vehicle for use or storage
- Vehicle servicing schedule documentation is completed
- Final inspection is made to ensure protective guards, safety features and cowlings are in place
- Final inspection is made to ensure work is to workplace expectations
- Servicing equipment is cleaned for use or storage to workplace expectations
- Job card is processed in accordance with workplace procedures
