Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to balance rotating and reciprocating engine components
- Nature and scope of work requirements are identified and confirmed
- OH&S requirements, including individual State/Territory regulatory requirements and personal protection needs are observed throughout the work
- Procedures and information such as workshop manuals and specifications, and tooling, are sourced
- Method options are analysed and those most appropriate to the circumstances are selected and prepared
- Technical and/or calibration requirements for balancing are sourced and support equipment is identified and prepared
- Balance rotating engine components
- Correct information is accessed and interpreted from manufacturer/component supplier specifications
- Balancing machine is prepared for operation
- Component is mounted and clamped into machine
- Balancing procedures are carried out to enterprise recognised guidelines
- Rotating engine components are balanced without causing damage to any component or system
- Balancing activities are carried out according to industry regulations/guidelines, OH&S legislation, legislation and enterprise procedures/policies
- Balance reciprocating engine components
- Correct information is accessed and interpreted from manufacturer/component supplier specifications
- Component is prepared for balancing
- Balancing procedures are carried out to enterprise recognised guidelines
- Reciprocating engine components are balanced without causing damage to any component or system
- Activities are carried out according to industry regulations/guidelines, OH&S legislation, legislation and enterprise procedures/policies
- Prepare components for use or storage
