Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for marshalling
- Arrival/departure information is received and processed in accordance with workplace procedures
- Marshalling requirements for different aircraft types are determined and requirements are clarified as required
- Hazards are identified, risks are assessed and hazard management is implemented
- Personal protective equipment is selected and fitted
- Work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements and recognised safety precautions are applied throughout the operation
- Allocated aircraft parking position is confirmed
- Marshalling, aircraft parking and ancillary support equipment are selected and checked for serviceability
- Relevant documentation is completed and processed in accordance with workplace procedures
- Establish/ disestablish aircraft parking position
- Marshalling, aircraft parking, and ancillary support equipment are positioned and used in accordance with manufacturer instructions and workplace procedures
- Movement is conducted in a safe manner in accordance with workplace procedures
- Environmental factors are monitored to ensure safety is maintained
- Conduct aircraft marshalling
- Special circumstances/procedures during aircraft marshalling are allowed for
- Standard marshalling signals and/or communications are employed
- Visual contact with pilot, other aircrew and/or ground staff is maintained
- Safety distances between aircraft and ground personnel/obstructions are identified and maintained
- Emergency actions are conducted in an aircraft fire or other incident, in accordance with workplace procedures
- Aircraft is secured/unsecured in accordance with workplace procedures
- Wind speed and direction are continually assessed for impact on marshalling operations
- Effects of aircraft ground turbulence on personnel and unsecured objects are taken into consideration
