Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for work.
- Drawings and specifications are obtained from job supervisor and site inspection.
- Safety (OHS) requirements associated with the flashing of penetrations through roofs and walls, and workplace environmental requirements, are adhered to throughout the work.
- Quality assurance requirements are identified and adhered to in accordance with workplace requirements.
- Tasks are planned and sequenced in conjunction with others involved in or affected by the work.
- Tools and equipment, including personal protective equipment, are selected and checked for serviceability.
- Work area is prepared to support efficient flashing of penetrations through roofs and walls.
- Identify flashing requirements.
- Roof and wall penetrations are identified from drawings and specifications.
- Penetrations are assessed as required to allow for the location of existing and future services.
- Material requirements are calculated from the job specification, in compliance with standards.
- Materials are identified, ordered and collected in accordance with workplace procedures.
- Materials and equipment are checked for compliance with docket and order form, and for acceptable condition.
- Flash penetrations.
- Fabrication is undertaken in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Penetration is positioned and cut in compliance with plans, specifications and site measurements.
- Structural supports are installed in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Opening is prepared in compliance with specifications, manufacturer recommendations and regulations.
- Proprietary or purpose-made flashing is fitted in accordance with standards, plans, specifications and regulations.
- Sealant is applied in compliance with specifications and manufacturer recommendations.
- Penetration is performance tested to ensure correct fit of completed installation, and remedied as required.
- Clean up.
- Work area is cleared and materials disposed of or recycled in accordance with state or territory statutory and regulatory authority legislation and workplace procedures.
- Tools and equipment are cleaned, checked, maintained and stored in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and workplace procedures.
- Information is accessed and documentation completed in accordance with workplace requirements.
