- Plan for treating
- Applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), environmental, legislative and organisational requirements relevant to preparing for timber treatment operations are identified and followed
- Work order is reviewed and checked with appropriate personnel
- Type and quantity of timber to be treated and chemicals to be used are assessed and acquired from the storage location
- Equipment is prepared for work requirements and checked for operational effectiveness in line with manufacturer's recommendations
- Communication with others is established and maintained in line with OHS requirements
- Prepare for timber treatment
- Pre start-up checks are carried out on equipment in line with site requirements
- Timber supply to the treatment process is monitored and maintained
- Water requirements are identified and checked in line with organisational procedures and environmental requirements
- Moisture content of timber is tested in line with organisational procedures
- Preservative solution strength is checked and maintained for specified strength and volume in line with environmental requirements
- Treated timber is safely handled and transferred to storage location
- Timber treatment preparation processes and equipment faults are recorded and reported to the appropriate personnel
- Chemicals are handled and stored in line with regulatory and environmental requirements, and stock levels reported
- Treating area is kept clear of dust, shavings and debris in line with OHS requirements
