Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to transfer wood chips
- Applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), environmental, legislative and organisational requirements relevant to transferring wood chips are identified and followed
- Work order is reviewed and checked with appropriate personnel
- Type and quantity of wood chips to be transferred are acquired from the production process
- Equipment is selected appropriate to work requirements and checked for operational effectiveness in line with manufacturer's recommendations
- Transferral process is planned in line with site procedures and environmental requirements and deposit point inspected for access and cleanliness
- Communication with others is established and maintained in line with OHS requirements
- Transfer wood chips
- Pre start-up checks are carried out on equipment in line with site requirements
- Machines and feed systems are started and adjusted to transfer wood chip to the stockpile or transport in line with organisational requirements
- Conveyor operations are monitored and jams cleared to ensure free flow of output material to transfer systems
- Wood chips are transferred using a chip slinger or air blower in line with site requirements and transfer specifications
- Slinger or blower is manoeuvred to enable filling or distribution over the required area
- Filling or distribution levels are checked and stopped or topped up in line with work order and capacity
- Transfer process and equipment faults are recorded and reported to the appropriate personnel
