- Inspect the shoe or item
- Prepare work pieces
- Prepare workstation
- Set up machine
- Machine is set up and adjusted in accordance with manufacturers' instructions, workplace requirements and specifications for the work
- Threads are selected to match original threads and meet specifications
- Needle is selected to ensure correct type and size
- Stitch length is set and tested against required specifications
- Tension is set according to specifications
- Machine foot height adjusted to suit thickness and nature of material being repaired
- Machine is tested for correct operations
- Perform machine sewing
- Pieces are accurately positioned to achieve required specifications and quality
- Pieces are machined to achieve specifies results including seam or hole line up and overstitching as required
- Stitches are tapped down as required
- Threads are trimmed and burnished as required
- Work is performed according to OHS practices
- Identify poor machine performance
- Check and finish work
