- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Identify job requirements from specifications, drawings, job sheets or work instructions
- Prepare to cut non-printed leather
- Carry out minor maintenance safely
- Cut linings and components from materials by press or hand
- Select knives according to job specifications and size requirements and use according to WHS practices
- Adjust pressures on press to knife sizes and shapes
- Follow work ticket specifications according to pairs and pieces
- Cut parts to workplace quality standards in relation to materials flaws and acceptable levels of matching of irregular and non-uniform finishes
- Make decisions about individual pairs based on colour and grain approximation according to workplace quality standards
- Cut pairs to achieve best yield according to appropriate allowance and best matching of materials
- Identify distortions and defects on press cutting knives, dies and cutting boards, and take appropriate action
