Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for supporting shotfiring
- Access, interpret and apply blasting documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, confirm and apply shotfiring requirements, shift briefings, handover details and/or work orders before proceeding
- Access, interpret and apply environmental, geological and survey data
- Identify, manage and report all potential hazards risks and environmental issues
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate to the work activities
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
- Undertake coordination requirements with others prior to commencement of, and during, the work activity
- Provide support at the blast site
- Establish, secure and isolate shot site
- Ensure holes are drilled to authorised pattern design, with specific reference to geology, hazards, and safety
- Flush or clean and test drill holes
- Apply explosion inhibitor
- Identify and report any deteriorated explosives and accessories
- Ensure explosives are transported in accordance with requirements and procedures
- Load and stem the explosive
- Recognise and respond to hazardous and emergency situations
- Clear the site
