- Plan and prepare to carry out operational maintenance
- Access, interpret and apply service and maintenance documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate to the work activities
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
- Resolve coordination requirements with others prior to commencing and during work activities
- Perform pre-start checks and maintenance
- Inspect and carry out pre-start checks on equipment
- Complete site and/or company checklist sheet
- Lubricate all systems
- Check and top up fluid levels and bleed
- Check filters and clean or replace
- Check security of all circulation systems
- Check safety appliances are fitted and in serviceable condition
- Keep cabin, seat belts and windscreen clean and windscreen washer functioning
- Perform equipment checks
- Carry out timed and regular equipment checks, servicing and lubrication and record details
- Identify faults or potential faults and report immediately
- Obtain, confirm and apply isolation, tag out and lock out procedures
- Identify, record and/or report requirement for repair or maintenance and critical time line for rectification
- Monitor effectiveness of maintenance performed
- Maintain tools, components and consumables
- Carry out hot work
- Clear area around the worksite of flammable material
- Position fire extinguishers at company recommended locations
- Undertake hot work in compliance with district fire controls
- Liaise with spotter during hot work operations
- Inspect the area prior to leaving to ensure that no potential exists for later combustion
- Perform equipment maintenance
- Perform scheduled equipment servicing, maintenance and overhauls
- Use tag out and/or lock out when servicing
- Carry out minor servicing of equipment avoiding disruption to production
- Carry out routine inspection, servicing, lubrication and housekeeping tasks
- Identify and change worn parts and record relative frequency of replacement
- Identify operational faults in and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic and drive systems
- Report service and repair requirements and take action
- Undertake diagnostics and troubleshooting and take action
- Perform field repairs
- Isolate and rectify equipment faults
- Identify extent of repair needed and obtain spare parts
- Identify, select and use tools required for maintenance and repairs
- Return re-usable components or accessories
- Review equipment and re-set in response to variations in production needs
- Recognise system faults and formulate appropriate responses within agreed time lines
- Maintain records of action taken
- Dismantle, assess, service, repair, reassemble and test a given component
