Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for heavy combination vehicle operations
- Access, interpret and apply vehicle haulage documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret and clarify/confirm work requirements, such as shift briefings/handover details/work orders before proceeding
- Access, interpret and apply geological and survey data required to complete the allocated work in accordance with site procedures
- Prepare vehicle records and carry out log-on procedures
- Operate articulated vehicle
- Resolve coordination activities with others prior to commencement of, and during, the work activity
- Carry out pre-start, start-up, park-up and shutdown procedures
- Attach ancillary attachments to the articulated vehicle
- Operate articulated vehicle with and without ancillary attachments
- Manage engine power, ensure efficiency of vehicle movement, minimise strain to the engine and drive line
- Recognise and respond to hazardous and emergency situations
- Complete work activity, within the operating capacity of the articulated vehicle
- Couple and uncouple trailers
- Carry out operator maintenance
