- Scope operational checks
- Physical condition of equipment is observed
- Test procedures and parameters are identified in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer specifications
- Preliminary observations are recorded
- Test procedures are confirmed with appropriate staff as required and necessary permission is obtained
- Plan operational checks
- Specifications and notes from preliminary observations are checked and clarified as required
- Sequence of tests are planned noting where results and observations should be recorded
- Hazards are identified, risks are assessed and control measures are implemented
- Safe area for testing is identified
- Arrangements are made to obtain additional resources and staff, as required
- Check equipment through its full operating range
- Tests are undertaken in accordance with relevant safety and operational requirements
- Results are recorded and findings are confirmed
- Isolate fault and/or formulate recommendations
- Proposals for equipment repair are recorded based on faults found, cost/time implications and workplace approval systems
- Report is explained to relevant workplace personnel including options and recommendations
- Parts are procured and/or repairs are undertaken in accordance with enterprise procedures
