Elements and Performance Criteria
- Perform pre-operational checks
- Hazards are identified, risks are assessed and control measures are implemented
- Detailed pre-operational checks are conducted in accordance with manufacturer specifications and organisational procedures
- Logbooks are checked and completed in accordance with organisational requirements and manufacturer specifications
- Problems are identified and rectified in accordance with organisational procedures
- Identified problems are reported and documented in accordance with organisational procedures
- Obtain appropriate authority to travel
- Authority is obtained from appropriate person to travel from siding or on/off tracking location to designated location in accordance with Rail Infrastructure Manager procedures
- Communications with Network Control Officer is maintained using appropriate communications protocols and systems, in accordance with Rail Infrastructure Manager requirements and workplace procedures
- Authority to travel is recorded in accordance with organisational procedures
- Travel vehicle
- Vehicle is travelled in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with relevant codes of practice, safeworking systems, manufacturer specifications, and organisational and Rail Infrastructure Manager procedures
- Contingencies are responded to appropriately
- Stable medium or heavy self-propelled track vehicle
- Approval is requested from appropriate person to stable self-propelled track vehicle
- Nominated stabling location and timing is confirmed
- Vehicle is moved to nominated stabling location
- Appropriate person is contacted and informed that vehicle is at nominated location and intact
- Vehicle is stabled as directed and left in appropriate manner to ensure security and protection of vehicle and ancillary equipment
- Perform post-operational procedures
- Post-operational checks are conducted in accordance with manufacturer specifications and organisational procedures, to identify defects and maintenance requirements
- Identified problems are reported in accordance with organisational procedures
- Post-operational service schedules are conducted in accordance with organisational procedures
- Complete documentation
- Required documentation procedures and processes are confirmed
- Documentation is filled in legibly and proofread
- Documentation is processed in accordance with workplace procedures
