Elements and Performance Criteria
- Determine stabling location
- Stable motive power unit
- Train is shunted and secured to prevent roll away in accordance with directions, workplace procedures and relevant rail regulations
- Motive power unit is stabled as directed
- Motive power unit is secured to prevent roll away in accordance with directions, workplace procedures and relevant rail regulations
- Motive power unit is shut down as per manufacturers instructions and workplace procedures
- Cab is secured as per workplace procedures
- If required, derailers are set in place as per workplace procedures and rail regulations
- Carry out post-operational checks
- If appropriate, fuel and fluid levels are checked and any required action is taken to replenish them
- Inspection is made of motive power unit as per workplace procedures
- Any identified faults and defects are fixed and/or reported and recorded as per workplace procedures
- Faulty and defective equipment that presents a safety risk is isolated and tagged as per workplace procedures and rail regulations
- Outcomes of post-operational checks are recorded as per workplace procedures
- All equipment is returned and stowed as per workplace requirements
- Complete post-operational paperwork
