Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare to operate machinery and equipment near live electrical apparatus
   • Relevant work instructions are received and confirmed
2. Job requirements are discussed with relevant personnel and performed in accordance with workplace procedures
3. Work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) and environmental workplace procedures are received and confirmed
4. Work is prioritised and sequenced following consultation with relevant personnel for completion within acceptable timeframes and in accordance with workplace procedures
5. Hazards are identified, WHS/OHS risks assessed and control measures identified in accordance with workplace procedures
6. Relevant work permits are obtained, as required, to access and perform work in accordance with job requirements and/or workplace procedures
7. Resources including machinery, equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job are obtained and confirmed in working order in accordance with workplace procedures
8. Relevant person responsible for first aid and related work safety procedures at the worksite is confirmed in accordance with workplace procedures to ensure safety measures are followed in the instance of an incident
9. Liaison and communication issues with appropriate personnel, authorities, clients and land owners are resolved to carry out work, where necessary
10. Worksite is prepared to minimise risk, damage to property, commerce and individuals in accordance with workplace procedures
11. Personnel participating in work are fully briefed and responsibilities confirmed in accordance with workplace procedures
12. Traffic management is checked as implemented in accordance with workplace procedures
13. Pre-operational checks are undertaken to confirm safe and correct operation of machinery and equipment for safe use near live electrical apparatus in accordance with job requirements and workplace procedures
14. Carry out the operation of machinery and equipment near live electrical apparatus
    • WHS/OHS, sustainable energy and environmental principles and practices are monitored and followed to reduce incidents of accidents in accordance with workplace procedures
15. Appropriate machinery and equipment are selected to perform job requirements
16. Machinery and equipment, techniques and practices are followed in accordance with manufacturer instructions and job requirements
17. Machinery and equipment are used near live electrical apparatus in agreed timeframes, to quality standards and with minimum waste
18. Hazard warnings and safety signs are recognised and hazards and identified WHS/OHS risks are reported to immediate appropriate personnel for directions in accordance with workplace procedures
19. Machinery and equipment are safely operated near live electrical apparatus in accordance with work schedule, job requirements, given instructions and workplace procedures
20. Unplanned events are referred to relevant authorised personnel for directions in accordance with workplace procedures
21. Problems associated with the operation of machinery and equipment near live electrical apparatus are attended to using acquired known solutions and skills related to routine procedures to ensure work instructions and workplace procedures are met
22. Known solutions to a variety of problems are applied using acquired knowledge and associated skills
23. Quality checks of work are undertaken in accordance with industry standards and workplace procedures
24. Complete the operation of machinery and equipment near live electrical apparatus
    • Completed work is checked against work schedule, construction plans and drawings for compliance and anomalies are reported in accordance with workplace procedures
25. WHS/OHS and environmental incidents are reported in accordance with workplace procedures, as required
26. Worksite is cleaned and confirmed safe in accordance with workplace procedures
27. Machinery, equipment, tools and surplus resources and materials are, where appropriate, cleaned, checked and returned to storage in accordance with workplace procedures
28. Relevant person/s is notified of work completion in accordance with workplace procedures
29. Post-operational checks, minor maintenance and/or relevant documentation of machinery and equipment are conducted in accordance with requirements
30. Relevant work permits are signed off in accordance with workplace procedures
31. Work records, reports and/or documentation are completed in accordance with workplace procedures
