The total package of units must meet the requirements of the Australian Qualifications Framework Descriptor for a Certificate II. In all cases selection of electives must be guided by the job outcome sought, local industry requirements and the level of the qualification. |
Notes on Certificate II
This qualification is designed to develop the ability to cut and polish opals at a basic skill level. The qualification is aimed at a young person entering the industry sector, the miner or serious hobbyist wanting hands-on skills in opal cutting and polishing. The qualification provides a pathway which can subsequently be built on to achieve a range of high level outcomes in the industry.
The Certificate II is a flexible qualification and choice of elective units can provide for a range of outcomes. Examples of appropriate units for particular jobs at this level are as follows.
