Element: Prepare to cut complicated fabrics and lays
  • Determine lay-up and cutting requirements from work specifications
  • Identify and comply with workplace health and safety requirements
  • Prepare equipment and working area in accordance with job requirements
  • Obtain fabric and marker and confirm suitability to meet specifications
       
Element: Lay up fabric and position marker
  • Lay up fabric, check lay height and position of fabric according to requirements of cutting equipment and work specifications
  • Place marker on lay, check marker and lay alignment and take appropriate action according to job specification
  • Safely operate equipment and cut lay to meet specifications
  • Inspect cut work, identify any faults and rectify any deficiencies
  • Monitor performance of cutting equipment for signs of faulty operation and take required action to rectify performance
  • Complete and store production documentation in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Perform routine maintenance on cutting equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and workplace procedures
  • Clean work area and process unused fabric for recycling or safe disposal to minimise waste

Assessment Tasks
