Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare to construct block
  • Interpret and clarify size and fit specifications with designer or relevant personnel
  • Identify base size to be constructed and check for compatibility with fit model
  • Evaluate and record size and fit model specifications
  • Select appropriate construction principles and methods for block construction
       
Element: Construct initial block
  • Analyse measurements of fit model and enter data into block drafting formulas and methodology
  • Determine required ease allowance
  • Construct block using patternmaking technical skills
  • Document methods and formulas in required workplace formats
  • Cut and construct toiles to check accuracy
  • Transfer information from toiles to blocks, including any minor adjustments
  • Label final blocks and check all necessary information is accurate and complete and complies with specifications
  • File and store blocks according to appropriate criteria and complete all required documentation

Assessment Tasks

Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.

When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
