Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Determine pattern modifications for individual size
  • Identify client design and fit requirements
  • Take and record accurate client body measurements based on design requirements
  • Identify other body characteristics that will impact garment fit
  • Select appropriate block for modification based on fabric to be used and design and fit requirements
       
Element: Modify garment pattern
  • Assess and compare block against individual body measurements
  • Identify modifications that will achieve optimum fit for individual client
  • Use patternmaking principles to make required size adjustments
  • Document methods and formulas used
  • Check pattern pieces, label and complete markings
       
Element: Confirm fit and finalise pattern
  • Toile garment to test proportioning and fit
  • Fit prototype to ensure that pattern is satisfactory to customer
  • Complete any pattern alterations and assess pattern meets fit and design requirements
  • Finalise pattern and check it is accurate, complete and complies with design specifications
  • Complete pattern specification sheet, attach to patterns for storage and file appropriately

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
