Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Identify materials for job requirements
  • Identify job requirements from work documentation
  • Identify materials by appearance, texture, density, stock labels and product codes
  • Check stock labels or tags against product codes and manufacturer specifications to confirm correct identification
  • Check materials stocks and confirm sufficient quantities of materials are available to meet job requirements
  • Check materials and confirm they conform to specifications, descriptions and relevant quality standards
       
Element: Handle and store materials
  • Follow work health and safety practices and work procedures when examining stock
  • Identify the need for equipment or team lifting based on nature of materials and level of risk
  • Identify and use appropriate lifting equipment to lift heavy or awkward loads in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Use appropriate posture and lifting techniques for manual handling of materials
  • Store materials in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer recommendations

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
