Description | This competency is typically performed by operators and covers the operation of a packing line to package materials and products.Typical packing lines included in this competency may dispense liquid products into drums or plastic containers, pack filled containers into cartons or stack filled containers onto pallets. | ||

Learning Outcomes and Application | In this competency, the operator would use documentation to determine the packaging requirements, then select and prepare the required materials. Once all requirements are established, the operator would then set up the packing line and any ancillary equipment After checking that the packing line is ready for operation (free of blockages, contamination, etc), the operator would start the line to procedures and monitor its operation during the packaging process. This would include checking that the packaged product complies with specifications and completing relevant documentation.Generally the operator would be part of a team during start up and shut down procedures and would be expected to be capable of demonstrating competence in all parts of this unit. At all times they would be liaising and cooperating with other members of the team. | ||
