Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency involves the skills and knowledge required to treat a casualty using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to defibrillate at an emergency, including the before and after procedures. It will include using techniques for the administration of an AED according to industry standards and regulatory body guidelines and following AED medically endorsed protocols which may involve working with or without other personnel whilst engaged in the resuscitation. The unit is applicable to personnel who will be assessing casualty and develop management plans, checking equipment, attaching and operating equipment and recovering and restoring equipment. It is appropriate for personnel from emergency services and/or organisations that provide a medically supervised first aid service.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
