Description | This competency standard covers the functions involved in preventing and treating injuries and disease in horses. It requires the regular checking of all horses on the property for signs of ill health, distress or abnormal conditions. In addition, it requires the administering of veterinary medicines to treat disease incidence as instructed. Under the instruction from the manager (or veterinary doctor), quarantine measures, vaccinations or other preventative procedures will also be completed. At the completion of the work described in this standard, disease incidence will be minimised. The work in this standard will be carried out independently within own area of responsibility. | ||
