Learning Outcomes and Application This unit covers the performance of testing of connections to low voltage (LV) electricity networks according to AS 4741-2010 Testing of connections to electricity networks. It specifies the mandatory requirements for testing when connecting and/or reconnecting a customer’s installation to an electricity supply network.It encompasses the minimum principles and tests required to confirm that the LV supply connections are correct,The application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace subject to regulations for undertaking of electrical work. Other conditions may apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licencing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing this unit.

Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare to perform test procedures
  • Instruction in hazards and risk control measures for specific work functions and work areas are identified and obtained
       
Element: Tools and equipment needed for testing are checked for inspection date, safety and functionality
       
Element: Carry out test procedures
  • Workplace procedures and work instructions for controlling risk are followed
       
Element: Test procedures are conducted in accordance with AS 4741-2010 Testing of connections to electricity networks
       
Element: Enterprise procedures for corrective actions are followed
       
Element: Test results are documented in accordance with established enterprise procedures

  • Processes for reporting to authorised personnel are confirmed in accordance with established procedures
