This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use basic video art techniques to produce creative work.
It applies to individuals who have limited experience in working with video and apply fundamental skills to experiment and develop creative works using video technologies.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:
describe the function and capabilities of materials, tools and equipment commonly used for video art
outline major styles of video art relevant to individual area of interest
describe a range of video art production techniques
describe the typical work space and equipment requirements for the production of different types of video art
outline cleaning and care techniques for tools and equipment used in video art
outline procedures for working safely with digital materials, tools and equipment.
Assessment Conditions
Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in creative arts industry environments. The assessment environment must include access to tools, equipment, materials and information required for producing video art.
Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational educational and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.
