Operate automated washing equipment


Application

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare, load and operate automated washing equipment.

This unit applies to individuals who work alongside a supervisor, in most situations, and exercise limited autonomy.

All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, in accordance with State/Territory work health and safety apply to the workplace.

No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Prepare washing equipment for operation

1.1 Read or listen to work instructions from supervisor and ask for clarification where necessary

1.2 Identify work health and safety hazards and tell supervisor

1.3 Use appropriate personal protective equipment according to workplace procedures

1.4 Identify and load items to be washed according to job specifications

1.5 Confirm equipment and service are ready for use

1.6 Select wash cycle settings to meet safety and wash requirements

2. Operate and monitor the equipment

2.1 Conduct pre-start checks according to workplace procedures

2.2 Operate equipment and monitor to identify variation in operating conditions

2.3 Identify variation in equipment operation and report maintenance requirements

2.4 Shut equipment down safely according to workplace procedures

2.5 Unload washed items, and position in required location

2.6 Keep work area clean and tidy according to work health and food safety procedures

2.7 Clean equipment and complete records, as required by workplace procedures
