Application
The application of this unit in the workplace - the environments, complexities and situations involved - will be written during Phase II of the Review of the PUA00 Public Safety Training Package. This text will be useful for the purposes of job descriptions, recruitment advice or job analysis; where possible, it will not be too job specific to allow other industries to import it into other Training Packages, where feasible. | |

2. Conduct survey tasks | 2.1 Survey equipment is operated to determine orientation and fixation as determined by the survey scheme 2.2 Data from the survey is recorded in field book or other proforma in accordance with organisational procedures and supervisor's instructions 2.3 Results are verified for omissions and errors by re-checking visual clues in measurements or actual data 2.4 Survey data is communicated in accordance with standard procedures 2.5 Survey control points are established and recorded in accordance with standard procedures 2.6 Supervisor and colleagues are communicated with regularly throughout the survey activity to ensure smooth operation and progress 2.7 Survey equipment is maintained in accordance with standard procedures |
Required Skills
This describes the essential skills and knowledge and their level, required for this unit. |
Required Skills |
use communication systems interpret data record information |
Required Knowledge |
analytical processes characteristics, tabulated data and limitations of the survey equipment communication procedures principles of survey |
Evidence Required
Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit | Assessment must confirm the ability to: use the following equipment: GPS orientation and fixation equipment gyroscopic orientation equipment angular measurement equipment (as an example theodolite) compass distance measurement devices work as part of a team work in a stressful environment. Consistency in performance Competency should be demonstrated over a range of actual survey tasks. |
Context of and specific resources for assessment | Context of assessment Competency should be assessed in an operational or simulated operational environment. The simulation should replicate the live environment where stress, fatigue and team work are key features. Specific resources for assessment Access to appropriate survey equipment and area. |
Guidance information for assessment | Information that will assist or guide assessment will be written during Phase II of the Review of the PUA00 Public Safety Training Package. |
