Application
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to plan a towing job and to set up towing with reference to regulations and standard operating procedures. It includes obtaining and confirming job instructions, assessing towing requirements, determining a plan of action, and carrying out all required action to set up and secure a towing situation. Persons achieving competence in this unit will need to fulfil the applicable work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation and other relevant regulations covering setting up and securing a towing situation. Work is performed under limited supervision. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. |

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include: |
applying precautions and required action to minimise, control or eliminate identified hazards applying relevant legislation and workplace procedures communicating effectively with others completing relevant documentation modifying activities depending on workplace contexts, risk situations and towing situations planning and prioritising own work, predicting consequences and identifying improvements reading and interpreting relevant instructions, procedures and information recognising problems and taking appropriate action selecting and use personal protective equipment in accordance with work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements selecting and using relevant equipment and tools working safely and collaboratively with others. |
Evidence of Knowledge

Assessment Conditions
As a minimum, assessors must satisfy applicable regulatory requirements, which include requirements in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations current at the time of assessment. Assessment processes and techniques must be appropriate to the language, literacy and numeracy requirements of the work being performed and the needs of the candidate. Resources for assessment include: a range of relevant exercises, case studies and/or simulations applicable documentation including workplace procedures, regulations, codes of practice and operation manuals relevant materials, tools, equipment and personal protective equipment currently used in industry. |
