Manage a rail yard or terminal

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to manage a rail yard or terminal. It includes preparing to manage the rail yard/terminal; overseeing rail yard/terminal operational requirements; overseeing resourcing; implementing the safety management system; and developing and implementing rail yard/terminal emergency procedure in accordance with legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements. Licensing or certification requirements are not applicable to this unit at the time of publication.

Application

This unit can be applied to freight yards, marshalling yards, intermodal terminals, maintenance yards or private sidings.
