Operate fabric filter dust collection plant


Application

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to operate, inspect and monitor fabric filter dust collection plant associated with coal fired power stations.

Dust collection plantis used to enhance the quality of air released from power generation processes. It typically consists of a blower, dust filter, a filter cleaning system and a dust receptacle or dust removal system.

Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan and prepare work, operate fabric filter dust collection plant, test, analyse, monitor, inspect and report dust collection plant faults and complete documentation. Individuals will, in general, work under supervision, in a power generation facility as an operator.

Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.
