The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?
Monitor crop and plant water use
Estimate or measure water use from one or more systems Completed |
Evidence:
Accumulate water as a soil water deficit in the root zone Completed |
Evidence:
Apply a measured amount of water
Predict a pre-determined deficit using a scheduling system Completed |
Evidence:
Apply irrigation to partly or fully replace the deficit Completed |
Evidence:
Increase water quantities where appropriate to ensure dilution and transport of toxic solutes below the root zone Completed |
Evidence:
Assess efficacy of irrigation and repeat cycles of irrigation
Measure the effectiveness of irrigation application with in-field equipment Completed |
Evidence:
Adjust the estimated soil moisture level in scheduling system to match that measured Completed |
Evidence:
Recalibrate the scheduling system where necessary Completed |
Evidence:
Repeat cycles of irrigation until schedule is correctly established Completed |
Evidence:
Record irrigation and scheduling parameters
Record each irrigation and significant rainfall event, plus other appropriate parameters used in scheduling system Completed |
Evidence:
Estimate and record drainage amount below root zone at each irrigation Completed |
Evidence:
Record system performance data Completed |
Evidence:
Plan for extremes of weather
Modify estimated deficits to cater for any prolonged saturation following heavy rainfall Completed |
Evidence:
Alter shift areas, and where applicable, application rates, to suit appropriate irrigation schedules that minimise frost damage Completed |
Evidence:
Implement strategies involving prioritising of plants and crops and intermittent irrigation at times of extreme heat Completed |
