1. Plan and prepare

1.5. Identify environmental protection requirements from the project environmental management plan, and confirm and apply to the allotted task

2. Prepare for spraying operations

2.1. Carry out pre-operational checks in accordance with organisation, manufacturer or site authorised procedures

2.2. Check tank for cleanliness and contaminants prior to filling, and ensure transfer connections are completed and fully functional

2.3. Conduct all loading and unloading operations safely in accordance with manufacturer's or company instructions

2.4. Fill spray tank and ensure adequate materials are made available to perform spray operations

2.5. Identify application rate and translate into the relevant travel speed and pump characteristics where necessary

2.6. Select jets and fit to spray bar to enable spraying operations

3. Spray tack coat

3.1. Select and modify spraying techniques for tack coating to meet changing work conditions and types of surfaces

3.2. Conduct, control and monitor spraying operations of tack coat sprayer to ensure that materials are sprayed to specification

3.3. Carry out operations adjacent to traffic in accordance with authorised traffic management controls in a safe manner at all times

3.4. Complete work in accordance with the agreed plan and outcomes within the operating capacities of the allocated equipment

4. Operate hand lance

4.1. Determine situations where hand spraying is required

4.2. Inspect hand lance to ensure the equipment is safe and operating correctly

4.3. Inspect and set spray jets for job

4.4. Conduct, control and monitor hand spraying operations to ensure that materials are sprayed to specification

4.5. Carry out hand spraying operations adjacent to traffic in accordance with authorised traffic management controls in a safe manner at all times

4.6. Clean and store hand spraying equipment after use

5. Operator maintenance and clean up

5.1. Conduct inspection and fault finding in accordance with manufacturer's or organisational requirements

5.2. Clean spray bars and lances and ensure jets are free of contaminants

5.3. Empty and clean tank of bituminous products, in accordance with EPA and company procedures

5.4. Carry out routine operational servicing and lubrication tasks

5.5. Carry out minor maintenance

5.6. Maintain records in accordance with site requirements including identification of potential and current equipment problems

5.7. Perform work to the requirements of the organisation's environmental instructions and EPA standards

5.8. Clear work area and dispose of or recycle materials in accordance with project environmental management plan

5.9. Clean, check, maintain and store tools and equipment
