Unit Description

Assessment Template
generate a spreadsheet for marking this unit in a classroom environment. Put student names in the top row and check them off as they demonstrate competenece for each of the unit's elements and performance criteria.
Assessment Matrix
a slightly different format than the assessment template. A spreadsheet with unit names, elements and performance criteria in separate columns. Put assessment names in column headings to track which performance criteria each one covers. Good for ensuring that you've covered every one of the performance criteria with your assessment instrument (all assessement tools together).
Wiki Markup
mark up the unit in a wiki markup codes, ready to copy and paste into a wiki page. The output will work in most wikis but is designed to work particularly well as a Wikiversity learning project.

1. Prepare for fire team operations

1.1 Receive, document, clarify and confirm notification of fire operations from appropriate authority

1.2 Access, interpret and apply fire team operations documentation and procedures

1.3 Obtain, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements

1.4 Identify hazards and environmental issues, assess risks, and implement control measures in line with workplace procedures

1.5 Identify and confirm each team member’s role and responsibilities

1.6 Implement appropriate communication methods to be used during fire fighting or containment in line with workplace procedures

1.7 Locate, select and wear personal protective equipment required for work activities

1.8 Identify and select required firefighting appliances and confirm their applications

2. Fight or contain fire

2.1 Move or travel to fire site according to workplace procedures

2.2 Identify and assess type, nature, source and intensity of fire, and communicate details to appropriate authorities

2.3 Identify, select, wear and/or apply appliances and equipment appropriate to fire circumstances

2.4 Monitor conditions in fire area, and modify firefighting techniques or applications to reduce impact of identified and/or potential hazards

2.5 Avoid unnecessary risks to self and other team members

2.6 Apply isolation and evacuation procedures

3. Complete fire team operations

3.1 Water, rake down, and/or apply chemicals to fire area to minimise fire recurrence

3.2 Isolate, barricade, rope off, secure, and monitor fire area

3.3 Clean and inspect appliances and equipment and store in designated location

3.4 Report, record and process appliances and equipment for maintenance and/or repair

3.5 Participate in debriefs

3.6 Complete and file documentation, and distribute according to workplace requirements

4. Audit firefighting installations

4.1 Inspect and check each fire board, depot, substation and station’s firefighting installations and appliances

4.2. Identify, clarify and confirm location and range of appliances on premises
